Case Study: 365 Design Project

A design a day for a year.

by: nicknortham

The 365 Design Project is an ambitious and inspiring art project in which I committed to designing a unique poster every single day for an entire year. This project aimed to push the boundaries of my creativity, improve my design skills, and explore various themes and styles while maintaining a consistent daily output.

Key Elements of the Project:

  1. Daily Commitment: The project required unwavering dedication to designing a new poster each day for a full year. This commitment demonstrates determination and consistency throughout the project.
  2. Themes and Inspiration: I drew inspiration from a wide range of sources, including current events, personal experiences, pop culture, and various design trends. Each day, I selected a theme or concept that resonated with me and used it as the foundation for the design.
  3. Experimentation: Throughout the year, I explored diverse design techniques, styles, color palettes, and mediums. I was not confined to a single approach, allowing myself to expand my creative horizons.
  4. Documentation: The project was documented, with each daily poster uploaded to a dedicated social media platform. This allowed followers to track the progress, witness the evolution, and engage in discussions about the posters.
  5. Feedback and Engagement: I encouraged interaction with my audience, promoting feedback, comments, and discussions on each design. This interaction not only provided valuable input but also created a supportive and engaged community around the project.
  6. Challenges and Learning: Designing a poster every day presented its own set of challenges. I had to overcome creative blocks, time constraints, and maintain a high level of motivation. Overcoming these challenges led to valuable personal growth and enhanced problem-solving skills.
  7. Celebratory Milestones: The project included celebrations for significant milestones, such as the 100th, 200th, and 365th posters. These milestones acted as motivational markers and were often marked with recaps.
  8. Reflection and Conclusion: At the end of the project, I reflected on their journey, shared insights gained, and showcased how my skills had evolved over the year.

This project is a testament to the power of dedication, creativity, and the transformative nature of long-term artistic commitment. It not only served as a personal growth journey for me but also inspired and connected with a broader audience, demonstrating the endless possibilities within the world of design and creativity.
